Sesame Street Season 43 Revs Forward

It’s that time of year again: time for Sesame Street to begin promoting its upcoming, record breaking, truly amazing 43rd Season which debuts on PBS on September 24th. As always, Sesame Workshop has released tons of awesome clips and lists of what to expect from the new season, starting first with the celebrities slated to appear this year, including: Halle Berry, Don Cheadle, Amy Ryan, Casey Affleck, Melissa McCarthy, Steve Carell, Jon Hamm, Eric Stonestreet, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, David Hyde Pierce, Timothy Olyphant, Maya Rudolph, Dax Shepard, Blake Griffin, Matt Kemp, Zac Efron, Ed Helms, Kristen Bell, Paula Patton, Mario Lopez, Wendy Williams, Colbie Caillat, rock band Train, Common, Sonia Sotomayor. Incredible list, no? Well how about a clip featuring David Hyde Pierce!

Also as the show has always done, pop culture parodies will run rampant in Season 43, including an hysterical parody of Rocky with Telly and Elmo, which includes a song titled “Eye of the Potato,” that you absolutely have to watch right now:

Other spoofs include “The Voice,” “Birdwalk Empire,” “Five By,” “Upside Downton Abbey,” “Trashgiving Day,” and “Porridge Art.” You can watch the awesome spoof of The Voice (with the eerily perfect Cee Lo Green Muppet) right now!

Season 43 will also include new Super Grover 2.0 segments, new Abby’s Flying Fairy School installments, the return of Papa Bear, Grover, Elmo, and Abby as paleontologists, a song about the Letter X, and so much more! But perhaps the most exciting development to Sesame Street in Season 43 is the removal of “Elmo’s World,” which has been shown at the end of nearly every episode of the show since Season 30. After 13 seasons, Elmo’s World is finally being replaced by a brand new, much updated segment called “Elmo: The Musical.” In the new segment, Elmo will still focus on one subject, but this time he is starring in a musical about it instead of living in a crayon-based world and talking about it. Subjects include “President,” “Sea Captain,” and “Guacamole.” I already love it more than Elmo’s World. Check out two preview clips below.
