Ryan Dosier – We finally come to the close of 2014, a monumental year for the Muppets, Sesame Street, and Muppet fans. Thanks for spending 2014 with us, Muppet fans. See you in the new year!

SEPTEMBER 2 – John Oliver, Cookie Monster, Grover, and Telly Monster appear with other celebrities in W-ORD Channel 7 News.

SEPTEMBER 5 – Sesame Street‘s monumental 45th Season premieres on PBS stations around the country.

SEPTEMBER 11 – Ryan Dosier begins his 5-part article series, The 30 Greatest Episodes of The Muppet Show.

SEPTEMBER 10 – The Muppets appeared throughout a new episode of America’s Got Talent. Miss Piggy sang “It’s Raining Men” and the Muppet cast opened the show in typical style (see video above).

SEPTEMBER 12 – Kermit the Frog visits CBS News This Morning to deliver his “Note to Self.” This is one of the greatest and most beautiful Kermit appearances ever.

SEPTEMBER 12 – Cookie Monster visits a galaxy far, far away in the best parody to come out of Sesame Street‘s Crumby Pictures Presents sketch: “Star S’mores.”

SEPTEMBER 18 – Sesame Street teams with the New York Public Library to open the “Somebody Come and Play” exhibit in honor of the show’s 45th Anniversary. The exhibit runs through January 31, 2015.

OCTOBER 10 – Grover hangs out with the raucous and adorable Kid President to lead a pep talk about Socktober.

OCTOBER 14 – Longtime Sesame Street performer Fran Brill retired from the show. We wish her the best of luck and thank her for giving us Prairie Dawn and Zoe.

OCTOBER 20 – Gerry Parkes, best known for playing Doc on Fraggle Rock passed away at age 90.

OCTOBER 27 – I Am Big Bird: The Caroll Spinney Story received distribution from Tribeca Films. Look for it in the first quarter of 2015.

NOVEMBER 6 – Kermit the Frog delivers an exceptional TED Talk at the TEDxJackson conference in his home state of Mississippi.

NOVEMBER 10 – Sesame Street officially celebrates its 45th Anniversary!

NOVEMBER 13 – The Muppet Mindset collects 45 Moments for Sesame Street‘s 45th Anniversary, including memories from Bob McGrath, Emilio Delgado, Martin P. Robinson, and numerous other fans, cast, and crew members of the show.

NOVEMBER 24 – Steve Whitmire contributes many personal treasures from his vast collection to auction off for the benefit of The Center for Puppetry Arts.

DECEMBER 18 – Kermit the Frog sings “It Feels Like Christmas” at Disneyland.

DECEMBER 18 – Big Bird and Cookie Monster appear on the final episode of The Colbert Report.

DECEMBER 21 – Bert and Ernie appear on Oprah’s Where Are They Now special to celebrate Sesame Street‘s 45th Anniversary.
