WHO IS CROAKER?
Croaker is one of Kermit the Frog’s best friends from his years in the swamp. Croaker is brash, stubborn, and loyal. Croaker is a blue frog who takes pride in being the best hopper in the entire swamp, something his friends Kermit and Goggles admire. When Goggles is captured by a “shiny wheeled red beast,” Croaker joins Kermit on an adventure out of the swamp to rescue their friend.

croaker2Unfortunately for Croaker, he decides to try to take on that shiny wheeled red beast on his own, and ends up with tire marks across his chest and his hopping ability lost. After Croaker loses his hop, his braveness goes with it. Croaker tags along with Kermit to try to find Goggles, but doesn’t regain his braveness until Kermit encourages and convinces him to hop again and save Goggles.

Croaker’s only appearance outside of Kermit’s Swamp Years was silently in the background at the wedding in Muppets Most Wanted.

WHY DO THE MUPPETS NEED CROAKER?
Croaker is a fun, funny character who represents a crucial part of Kermit’s childhood. Although Kermit’s Swamp Years isn’t the best Muppet production (or even that great of a Muppet production), Croaker was still very entertaining and probably the best part of the whole thing. It would be fun to see an older Croaker return as a friend of Kermit’s in a future production, but seems incredibly unlikely.
