REVIEW: Fraggle Rock: Journey to the Everspring, Part 4

FraggleRock04_coverAJames Gannon – Fraggle Rock: Journey to the Everspring draws to its fourth issue close this week, and what a finale Jake Myler and Katie Leth have in store. For those who have taken the journey with the Fraggles in the previous three issues, you will not be disappointed in the least by the very satisfying conclusion. I expected no less from this writing and art team.

Needing all the help they can get clearing the blockage of garbage, Red has rushed back to the Rock to get the familiar tribe of Doozers to collaborate with the newly discovered, unfocused group.  From there, Gobo’s character arc gets its completion with help from Madam Trashheap.  Philo, Gunge, and Junior make their small but memorable appearances in the story, taking the action outside the Rock.  All and all, another beautifully rendered and written issue that’s just too delightful and uplifting to get bummed out that this was the end.

FraggleRock04-PRESS-3-0ff01I have quite enjoyed Archaia’s venture into Fraggle Rock comics, since the two volumes of long and short story comics.  Quite frankly, this is the best of the bunch by no small means of the ambitiousness of a longer story arc.  These comics always had a feeling of being a lost Fraggle Rock episode, but this miniseries truly embodied what the series was about. This arc felt like a great post Fraggle Rock TV series episode.  This little visit with the Fraggle Rock characters was a great pleasure to those who were missing the Muppets in comic book form.  I’d love to see these creators tell another story from the caves at some point in time.  The merger between Boom and Archaia has indeed rekindled Henson based comics media, and I can’t wait to see what else they have in store.
