The Muppet Mindset will be celebrating its 6th anniversary next month, and in the lead up we’re looking back on some of our favorite interviews over that time.
It’s often been said that one of The Muppet Mindset’s best friends is Bill Barretta, the Muppeteer behind Pepe, Rowlf, The Swedish Chef and many more. Bill has done a lot for this site and for Muppet Mindset founder Ryan Dosier, and we hear that he makes a fantastic breakfast sandwich.
In the early days of the site, Ryan interviewed Bill in a 3 part special, beginning with his time at Sesame Place, all the way through Dinosaurs, Muppets Tonight, Muppet Treasure Island, Sesame Street and beyond (well, up until February 2010 – so no mention of the last 2 Muppet movies)
Part 1 – In which Bill discusses his beginnings on Dinosaurs, Johnny Fiama and Sal, Seymour, Pepe and his relationship with Rizzo, and laughs about random Bobo quotes.
Part 2 – In which Bill talks about Muppets.com, cracking up Dave Goelz with Topo Sticky, the viral videos, specifically Bohemian Rhapsody, his time producing, and the disappearance of the much loved dingbat – Clueless Morgan!
Part 3 – In which Bill recalls his time as Elmo’s Daddy, taking on the characters that Jim Henson originated, his memories of meeting Jim, Pepe’s version of ‘Prince Ali’, and Ryan channels James Lipton as he asks questions directly to Johnny Fiama, Bobo and Pepe. Plus we finally find out the answer to the age old question – What is Bill’s favorite flavor of muffin??
