The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance

Jarrod Fairclough – Full House.  Arrested Development.  That one show with Rita Moreno where instead of singing ‘Fever’ she’s the matriarch of some family taking it one day at a time (I think it’s called ‘The Lady Who Takes It Daily’, although on second thought that doesn’t sound family friendly).  These are just a few of the things that Netflix have brought back from the dead, long after they were originally popular.  And now we can add something puppety to that list, because Netflix have announced a brand new live action Dark Crystal prequel, titled The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance!  Take a look at the trailer below!

The 10 episode series will be directed by Louis Leterrier and written by Jeffrey Addiss, Will Matthews, and Javier Grillo-Marxuach.  The Jim Henson Company are on board, of course, providing the puppets and effects.  Lisa Henson produces, alongside Halle Stanford, Henson producer Rita Peruggi, and Blanca Lista.

Described as a prequel to the 1982 original, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance tells the story of three Gelfling who discover the horrifying secret behind the Skeksis’ power, and set out on an epic journey to ignite the fires of rebellion and save their world.
If that doesn’t sounds like a chance for epic nightmare-inducing Skeksis, nothing does!

The series is set to begin filming in the fall, so it’ll probably be some time until we see the world of Thra again.  Until then though, you can watch below as our good pal Rachel Herrick does her thing and reacts to the trailer!  I’ll just be over here doing the Ceremony of the Sun until the release date.
