Seth MacFarlane Likes Muppets

Jarrod Fairclough – Seth MacFarlane’s career is an interesting one.  He started out as an animator, eventually became a writer, created several hit animated TV shows, made a bunch of movies with his friends, and now leads the cast in a live action space dramedy.  Oh, and just in case you didn’t realize he could do everything, he also sings – amazingly.

Seth recently released a new album, ‘In Full Swing’, where he covers a Muppet classic, ‘The First Time It Happens’ from The Great Muppet Caper, and it’s pretty great.  Take a listen!

Seth’s no stranger to Muppet fandom.  His TV shows, while sometimes crude and shocking, have shown a great understanding of the history of these characters and Jim Henson, a load of which you can see here (NSFW)

But that’s not the only Seth MacFarlane fan moment this week.  On his new show, The Orville, Seth’s character Captain Mercer has a Kermit the Frog toy on his desk, and when questioned about it, he explains that he looks to Kermit as a hero, as someone who too had to lead a rag tag bunch of misfits.  It’s not a comic moment, it’s a sincere reflection of Kermit and why all leaders should be like him.  Thanks to the good folks at Muppet Wiki, we have video of that moment.

So there you have it, it’s a very Muppet-MacFarlane week!
