Sesame Street’s Fourth of July-ly-ly

Jarrod Fairclough – Sesame Street is well known for its parodies of film, television and music.  Whether it’s James Bond, Game of Thrones or James Blunt’s ‘You’re Beautiful’, Sesame Street has found some way to skewer it during its prime position in the public’s eye.

Which makes it all the more hilarious and slightly baffling that Sesame Street’s newest video, celebrating the Fourth of July, is a parody of NSYNC’s ‘Bye Bye Bye’, a song that hasn’t been popular since the year 2000.

Below is a genuinely great video celebrating the holiday, featuring Elmo, Ernie, The Count, Oscar, and a tonne of auto-tune.  Enjoy!
