Jarrod Fairclough – It was announced last week that as of next year, Sesame Street will be moving to HBO’s upcoming streaming service HBO Max. For the next 5 seasons, new episodes will debut on the service, with a vast amount of episodes from the series’ 50 year history also included, many being released for the very first time.
As part of the deal, HBO Max will also debut The Not Too Late Show with Elmo, which we announced last month. Production begins next month.
As per ToughPigs.com, the deal also includes:
- Annual Sesame specials, starting with an animated adaptation of The Monster at the End of This Book
- An animated Sesame spin-off tentatively called Mecha Builders
- plus some assorted, non-Sesame productions
It’s important to note that HBO’s deal with PBS remains completely unaffected by this deal. PBS will still get new episodes and specials 9 months after they’ve debuted on HBO Max, as with the last few seasons.
No word yet on the Elmo/Curb Your Enthusiasm crossover we’ve all been waiting for.
