The Muppet Show Is Coming To Disney+

Jarrod Fairclough – Last week The Muppets sent the internet into a frenzy when they released this tweet:

What it could have been? People were all aflutter. Maybe they were going to make that Great Gatsby idea someone floated a few weeks ago (that we had first but we won’t mention it again). Maybe they would announce a new series of car air fresheners that smelled of elderberry.

Sorry, elderberry fans, it’s not that at all.

Today Disney have announced that, FINALLY, The Muppet Show is coming to Disney+ on February 19th! Yes – ALL OF THE MUPPET SHOW! It’s been a long running joke in this fandom that we never saw the release of Seasons 4 and 5 of the show even though they were announced well over a decade ago, and to this day people will write comments on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram asking about it on entirely irrelevent posts. It seems that Disney finally got all their music clearances together, and soon we’ll be able to enjoy Paul Williams singing with 3 of himself or Gene Kelly holding a mop directly through the streaming service!

“It’s going to be great to welcome back longtime fans, and to give a new generation of fans a chance to see how we got our start, how Miss Piggy became a star and so much more,” said Kermit the Frog. “Today, I’m proud to say: ‘It’s time to play the music, light the lights and meet the Muppets on Disney Plus tonight!’ And as for Statler and Waldorf, the two old guys in the balcony, I can only add: ‘Sorry, guys, but….here we go again.”

To make the announcement, Disney released this video:

Don’t forget – you can start streaming The Muppet Show on February 19th!
